DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF REMOTE CONTROL
SYSTEM FOR RADIO TELESCOPE ARRAY
-
Abstract
The remote control system of a radio telescope array is designed based on Python, PyQt5 and RS-422
communication protocols to meet the special observation requirements of the 4×4.5 m radio telescope array of Guizhou Normal University. The remote control system could realize some special functions, including remote control of radio telescope arrays, pulsar tracking, and spectral line observation. The designed software could be successfully run in Windows and Linux systems, and the interactive interface was friendly, with strong portability and expansibility. The actual measurement results using the antenna to track the radio source show that the RMS tracking errors of the antenna in azimuth and elevation are 0.02°and 0.01°, respectively, which are far less than 10% of the half-power beamwidth. The stability and reliability of the remote control system are verified through the practical application of the 4×4.5 m antenna array of Guizhou Normal University, and the expected design effect has been achieved.
